Premier of Volvo Penta joystick at the Moscow Boat Show 2011

17 February 2011

Volvo Penta will present for the first time its new Volvo Penta joystick at their stand at the Moscow Boat Show 2011.

The device is displayed with Volvo Penta IPS system but the joystick can be installed – also as a retrofit – in any Volvo Penta IPS-powered boat. Splashproof design and up to four helm stations give maximum flexibility.

With the Volvo Penta IPS Joystick, maneuvering is completely intuitive, the driver just pushes or rotates the joystick in the desired direction and the boat responds: forward, reverse, sideways, or spins on its own axis. The Volvo Penta IPS Joystick uses the engine and drive units in programmed synchronization to perform any maneuver the operator desires.

Sophisticated and specially developed software in the EVC system transforms the driver’s joystick movements into steering angles, gear shifts and throttle positions. The boat moves exactly according to the driver’s intentions.

At the beginning of 2010 the company has already installed more than 10 000 Volvo Penta IPS which acknowledges its popularity and success which other POD systems manufacturers unable to dispute.
