Boat alternators TBB Power MDX

28 January 2025

Electroforce will present at the Moscow Boat Show a novelty a line of alternators TBB Power MDX SHARK.

DC-DC chargers used on boats to charge batteries from a running engine generator are called alternators. Alternator converts electric power generated by generator so that voltage at its output corresponds to voltage of connected accumulator battery, and current to its current state.

DC-DC chargers of the MDX SHARK series expand the range of TBB Power alternators presented by Electroforce. Now, in addition to the popular DX1230 (12-12 volts), owners of boats with 36-volt trolling electric motors have access to a more powerful MDX13-60 model (12-36 volts).

The novelty works in two directions, just like the bidirectional DC-DC converters widely used in hybrid cars. The alternator increases the generator voltage from 12 to 36 volts and charges the 36-volt battery while in movement, and after stopping the engine, it turns into a 36-12 volt step-down DC-DC converter.

The current consumed by the converter from the 36-volt battery is almost three times less than the current supplied to it in the 12-volt part of the electrical system, so the 12-volt load has very little effect on the state of the electric motor battery.

Welcome to stand 026.
